About Dr. Alloway (she/her)

Dr. Christi Alloway has over 25 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages. Her area of specialty is experiential psychodynamic psychotherapy (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy) for adults across the lifespan.

She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston, and is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Originally from Oakville, Ontario, she moved to Calgary in 2000 to complete her residency in clinical psychology with Alberta Health Services.

Dr. Alloway began her career in the public health system. She worked for over 15 years in an outpatient mental health clinic with Alberta Health Services, where she provided individual psychodynamic therapy and interpersonal group therapy to adults across the lifespan, including young adults and seniors. She was involved in training graduate students in clinical psychology, and served on the administrative committee overseeing the clinical psychology residency program.

Dr. Alloway opened her private practice in 2014. Initially a one-day-a-week practice, she moved to full time private practice in the summer of 2017.

Dr. Alloway has completed over 10 years of highly specialized post-graduate training in experiential psychodynamic psychotherapy. In 2018, she finished a three year post-graduate Core Training program in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). She followed up with 2+ years of Advanced Training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. She attends Dr. Allan Abbass’ Immersion in ISTDP on an annual basis, as well as his Monthly Case Series for Advanced ISTDP training. She is committed to lifelong learning and further advancing her therapy skills. Dr. Alloway serves as the Treasurer on the executive board of the Western Canada Institute for ISTDP (WCII).

Dr. Alloway is a mother to two young adults and four fur-babies. Post-pandemic, she enjoys hot yoga, long walks or hiking, reading, photography, relaxing with her golden retriever, talking to her cats and spending time with her family and friends.
